Some of My Views and Values
I Believe in family.
Family should be the first form of fully functioning government. Families should be strengthened and no other success in life will ever compensate for failure at home. no matter where we live in the district or what we think of politics, we all agree that family is what it is all about. I support all legislation that would strengthen and empower families.
I believe that individual liberty and personal freedom to lead our lives the way we choose Are very important in our american life.
Our current form of government is far too big and has too much power to tax us and redistribute our wealth.
The lack of vision and financial leadership at the federal level of government threatens all of us. we must prepare now and strengthen our state and our local community so we will be prepared locally for an uncertain future.
I believe in a strong military
I believe in term limits for all elected officials. If a governor can only stay for 8 years, why not make all terms the same?
I believe ethics reform is long overdue in our state government.
A dangerous environment for otherwise honest people is created when our leaders are given money while the legislative body is in session. the practice of gift giving to legislators should be immediately stopped. PAC to PAC transfers should be stopped. political contributions should be capped like they are at the federal level. personal financial disclosures should be mandatory for all state officials. Income received from the state government and all its branches should be posted on the internet in a searchable database. terms limits should be enacted on all state government leadership, our leaders should have a sense of urgency to quickly make positive change and not stay in office and make a career out of politics. State contracts should be competitively bid as they are in the federal government. wasteful spending on pet projects should be eliminated, especially now in light of shortfalls in the college pact program. Parents that have saved in the pact program should be made whole and soon, before more litigation begins which will only make the financial problems of the program worse.
The governor of alabama should have a line item veto.
I believe in individual property rights.
Our property taxes should be assessed every four years. current usage laws should be upheld to better protect farmers. farming must not go the way u. s. manufacturing has gone. Farmers should be encouraged and incentivized to stay on the farm.
I Believe North Alabama is a bill payer for south alabama and believe this imbalance can be corrected as we enter the elections of 2010.
I am hopeful for a conservative republican majority in 2010!
I Believe that entrepreneurial spirit will lead america now and in the future and the environment that creates small businesses must be preserved.
I also feel strongly that more business owners should become more involved in what is happening in montgomery. as a business owner i do not believe in bailouts for any business in any sector.
I believe that with the downturn of our economy we have the perfect opportunity to deal with the problem of illegal immigration, and that more power should be given to the states to protect their own borders.
I look forward to meeting you and discussing any issue you have that I should be aware of and hope to tell you more about my core beliefs and why I feel my experience in life to this point makes me the best qualified candidate to represent our district in montgomery.
