About me

I was born in Alabama and raised on a small farm in a tiny place called Grassy (between Guntersville and Arab) over in Marshall county.

My Dad is from Etowah county and my Mom was from Cullman county. On both sides of my family I am a 6th generation Alabama boy. I graduated from Arab High School and graduated from UAH with a business degree. I moved from Huntsville to Harvest in 1990, and we now live near Monrovia on a small farm that felt rural when we moved there, but not anymore.  Still feels like home, even with all the traffic.

My professional career as had me very involved with startup business that have helped create jobs where there were none. 

I began my career as a Contract Specialist with the Strategic Missile Defense Command in Huntsville and I am very appreciative for the education and opportunities that this experience provided me.

Later, my wife and I founded a company called 3DResearch Corporation that grew from just the two of us to over 150 employees. We supported major Army and Air Force test programs, and as the company grew we were twice inducted into the INC 500 as one of the fastest growing companies in America. The company had amazing people.  We called each other "3Ders", not employees.

In 2006 I had the privilege to co-found Synapse Wireless Corporation.  Synapse is a commercial company that has developed software to allow machines to "talk" to each other.  We are working to become the "standard" that all sensors use to wireless transmit their data.  Employing about 35 people and having over 35 patents pending, Synapse Wireless is an employee-owned company that has created a “game-changing” new technology that I believe will change the way the world operates.

Soldier 1 Corporation is our latest business idea that is focusing on helping bridge the gap between commercial firms with useful technology and the soldier.

I have been on teams that have had an instrumental role in creating many jobs, many of them located in our District. I am really thankful to be a small part of the business community of Huntsville, and I really enjoy sharing my "lessons learned" in business with others that want to start and own their own companies.

I am very happy to live in the Huntsville area and for being a part of this community and I am very proud, as we all are, when Huntsville receives national recognition for its accomplishments.
